Lycoming Engines seeks a supervisor to lead a high-performing team of production inspectors, metrology technicians, and skilled trades personnel supporting production, development, assembly, and testing of engine products and systems. The ideal candidate is a charismatic leader and change agent who drives relentless improvement, motivates team members, and inspires every individual to strive for excellence in safety, quality, delivery and cost performance.
Responsibilities Include :
Hiring, coaching, training, developing, directing, counseling, and disciplining employees in a fair and consistent manner
Leading and directing employees in various size quality assurance / quality control departments
Developing and improving operations towards best-in-class standards including but not limited to talent, processes, and facilities
Supervising bargained personnel to ensure efficient manpower utilization and assist with planning
Proactively participating in cross-functional efforts and teams to support overall Lycoming objectives
Training and developing all bargaining unit personnel
Administering the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and collaborating with union leaders in the resolution of shop issues
Assisting with selection, installation, operation, and on-going maintenance of equipment and systems
Ensuring compliance with company procedures and policies
Qualifications
Qualifications - External
Position Requirements:
Leadership experience
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Ability to positively influence work culture and drive change in organizations
Strong problem solving, team building, and conflict resolution skills
Strong work ethic
Machine shop inspection experience, non-destructive inspection experience, and experience utilizing statistical process control is preferred
Knowledge of general aviation engine and airframe applications is preferred
Engine assembly, test, and/or dynamometer experience is a plus
Lean manufacturing experience is preferred
Six Sigma training and experience is preferred
Specialized Requirements:
Knowledge of quality process and procedures, gage calibration, plate layout, first article, and final product inspection.
Basic knowledge of Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and vision systems is preferred.
Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems is preferred
Ability to develop, implement, and maintain facility infrastructure
Ability to coordinate and prioritize work to meet customer requirements for both production and development demands
Ability to work with and support the FAA to ensure investigations are conducted accurately and on schedule
