Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Kitchener has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Technician. This position provides an excellent starting point to building a career within the aerospace industry. The primary focus would be to perform preventative maintenance and inspections on equipment. Utilizing knowledge in electrical systems you will be a key member of the team, ensuring the machinery on site runs smoothly.
Essential Responsibilities
Reporting to the Production and Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Tech’s major activities and responsibilities include the following.
- Receive work assignment from foreman or production personnel in the event of breakdown.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspection on equipment and reports.
- Trouble shoots mechanical/hydraulic/electrical, CNC and pneumatic equipment.
- Inspect and test components of electrical systems, including transformers, transfer switches and switch gears
- Assist with existing electrical system maintenance and future upgrades.
- Assembles and aligns gears, bearings and shafts, etc.
- Utilize blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturer’s installation manuals to complete assigned projects
- Operate machine tools necessary to perform maintenance tasks.
- Perform steel fabrication as required with or without drawings.
- May be required to perform preventative maintenance and repairs to for lift trucks, other than propane.
- Fill out work orders on completion of jobs.
- Work at various heights performing required maintenance.
- Cleans up after completing job.
- Plumbing as required.
- Notify foreman of any job irregularities, faulty equipment or material.
- Maintain clean working area to 6S standards.
- Observe plant safety rules and regulations.
- Participate in Root Cause analysis and corrective action with respect to machine repairs
- Notify supervisor of any repairs required.
Position Requirements
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship training program.
- A minimum of 3 years related experience
- Electrical Certification
- Possess strong troubleshooting skills
- Mechanical aptitude, and knowledge of mechanical electrical systems
- Certification for Industrial Millwright (Red Seal) and experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, welding and experience with Preventative Maintenance programs will be considered assets
