Job Title: C-17 Structures MechanicJob Description
As a C-17 Structures Mechanic, you will be an integral part of the team responsible for maintaining and repairing aircraft structures. Regular and predictable attendance is crucial for this role, as you will be working on critical support structures and fracture areas. This position is based in San Antonio, TX, and offers the opportunity to contribute to significant projects within the aviation industry.
Responsibilities
- Perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation on critical support structures and fracture critical areas.
- Locate blind holes necessary for installation of new structural items to existing structures.
- Seal, paint, shim, and preserve structures in accordance with standard repair processes.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements to perform structural modification/repair.
- Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of structural parts.
- Troubleshoot and repair aircraft mechanical components, including replacement of components.
- Modify and repair aircraft sheet metal/structural parts and determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.
- Utilize aircraft-specific tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and shears.
- Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate online parts and discrepancy requests.
- Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits for assigned work.
- Ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds.
- Ensure a safe working environment through Hazardous Energy and Lock Out/Tag systems applications.
- Assist team members to meet cost and schedule targets.
- Obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance, requiring U.S. Citizenship.
- Pass an assessment at the end of the training cycle.
- Comply with SA Site Tool and FOD procedure.
Essential Skills- 4+ years of experience working with non-porous metals such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel.
- 4+ years of experience with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures.
- 4+ years of experience using structures hand tools like drills, pancake adapters, counter sink cages, hole finders, and rivet guns.
- 4+ years of experience in heavy structures: locating, drilling, countersinking, and fastening structures to aircraft.
- Ability to work variable shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience in aircraft heavy maintenance, especially C-17 or Depot Level.
- Experience working with titanium aircraft structures.
- Ability to operate a forklift, mobile crane, and riding-type electric powered elevating equipment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.17 - $40.17/hr.
