About the Role The Materials & Technology Group is seeking a motivated Summer Student to support activities related to REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) compliance across our aircraft programs. This role offers exposure to the intersection of materials engineering, regulatory compliance, and chemical risk management within the aerospace industry.  This position is well-suited for a student with a background in biochemistry, chemistry, or life sciences who is interested in applying laboratory knowledge to real-world regulatory and materials challenges.  Key Responsibilities Support the review and analysis of material and chemical data against REACH regulatory requirements Assist in identifying and tracking Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) within engineering materials and supplier documentation Compile, organize, and maintain material compliance data in internal databases and tools Work with engineering, procurement, and suppliers to collect material declarations and safety data sheets (SDS) Perform basic data analysis to support risk assessments and reporting activities Contribute to the preparation of technical summaries and compliance reports Assist with continuous improvement of processes related to materials compliance and data management  Qualifications Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field (2nd or 3rd year preferred) Strong understanding of basic chemical principles and laboratory practices Experience with data analysis and scientific reporting   Preferred Skills Familiarity with laboratory techniques (e.g., sample preparation, analytical methods, or experimental design) Experience handling and interpreting scientific data sets Basic proficiency in Excel Knowledge of chemical safety, WHMIS, or biosafety practices Interest in regulatory frameworks, environmental compliance, or chemical risk assessment High attention to detail and ability to manage structured data accurately Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment   What You’ll Gain Practical experience applying scientific knowledge to aerospace materials and regulatory compliance Exposure to global chemical regulations, including REACH Opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams Development of professional skills in data analysis, technical communication, and regulatory processes
