The Boeing Company is looking for an Senior Environmental Test Engineer to join our team in Berkeley, MO.
The Boeing Test & Evaluation Thermal Test Engineering Labs support various defense, space and commercial programs. There are several areas of Environmental Test performed at this location which include: Acoustics, Airflow, Altitude, Dynamics, Fluids, Hypersonics, Pressure, Temperature, Thermal Management Systems and Vibration. This hands on position will include all facets of the test lifecycle from test design, setup and execution to data review and final reporting. Examples of work performed in these areas include: High Temperature Test Hardware Design and Configuration; Fluid flow system design and configuration; mechanical systems design and configuration, electro-mechanical design, program logic controls, writing and executing LabView software controls. Work is performed individually as well as in a group/team environment.
The individual that applies for this position will perform as an integral part of a four-man team (three engineers and one technician) responsible for operating the Large Core Arc Tunnel (LCAT) test facility. The LCAT facility performs high-temperature testing of materials and thermal protection systems applicable to hypersonic vehicles and spacecraft. The LCAT facility utilizes a 5-Megawatt DC electrical power system, a 3500 PSIG compressed air system, an 800 psig, 1200 GPM cooling water system and a high-throughput vacuum system during normal operation. Participate in pre-test planning and discussions with internal and external business partners desiring to conduct tests in the LCAT facility. Collect, process and distribute temperature, pressure, visual and IR optical data to customers for final data package reporting.
Position Responsibilities:
Applies knowledge of aerospace components, systems, and related test equipment, facilities, processes and methods including: Analyze engineering designs to define testing requirements; Prepare test plans, schedules and documentation
Design, develop and safely operate test facilities and instrumentation systems
Conduct component, sub-system, system and system-of-systems tests
Prepare analyze, and report test results to verify and validate design and performance to meet government, regulatory, customer and program compliance requirements
Conduct aerospace research and preliminary design; develop and transition test technology
Perform metrology services (calibration, certification & maintenance) on all related instruments and equipment
This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience with ARC-JET Testing
An active U.S. Secret or higher Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Summary Pay Range: $113,900 - $154,100
