Since 2011, Raytheon Australia have been contracted to deliver facilities services in support of the Harold E. Holt (HEH) Defence Precinct in Exmouth, Western Australia gateway to the world-class Ningaloo reef. HEH is home to the Space Surveillance Telescope (SST), the C-Band Radar and Very Low Frequency (VLF) radio transmission capability, together these systems add a critical contribution to Australias space domain awareness and battlespace awareness missions.
To support our mission, Raytheon is currently seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer who is ready to join a diverse, talented, and enthusiastic team of engineering professionals at Mawson Lakes, SA. Reporting to the Engineering Manager and working closely with the SST and C-Band Supervisors, your prime responsibility is to support and sustain one of the most sensitive telescopes in the world. Other duties include supporting the Senior Electrical Engineer in the sustainment of the wider SST and C-Band facilities, which includes power generation, power distribution, optics, radar, plant equipment and control systems.
You will assist in complex fault rectification, electrical design, and sustainment activities to assure the NCSHEH electrical asset operational performance and governance is maintained in accordance with Australian electrical standards & WA state legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical Engineer for the SST Mission System, supporting the operation of the telescope and its facility;
- Support the Senior Electrical Engineer with power generation, power transmission, plant equipment, radar and control system sustainment;
- Develop solutions that meet customer requirements within cost, schedule and quality constraints;
- Defect investigations, maintenance-related investigations and special technical instructions;
- Liaison with the Engineering Manager on project engineering issues, design process and engineering change development in according to company and program procedures;
- Participation of technical reviews within the Program as well as planning, estimating and scheduling of electrical engineering tasks;
- Risk assessments of Electrical Engineering Hazards and proposed design solutions.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an Electrical Engineering with 2-5 years of post-graduate professional engineering experience in the area of Electrical systems;
- Ability to resolve defects on a diverse range of electrical systems;
- Willingness to become and maintain a Chartered Professional Engineering status via Engineers Australia;
- Familiarity with Australian Standard (AS) electrical standards and preferably with WA legislation;
- Preferred familiarity with SCADA, Siemens and Allen-Bradley control systems;
- Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security clearance as needed. Eligibility can be found at http://www.defence.gov.au/agsva
