The Boeing Company is looking for a Mid-Level Communications Specialist to join its defense business in El Segundo, California. This position will play a vital role in supporting the Space Missions Systems (SMS) segment of the Space, Intelligence & Weapons systems (SI&WS) business. In this position, you will help shape and execute communication strategies that highlight Boeing’s innovative work in commercial and government satellite systems and related technologies.
We’re seeking a candidate who can convey clear, concise, and consistent messages across numerous communications channels across multimedia formats. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including the SI&WS Senior Communications Manager and SMS Senior Communications Specialist, to effectively execute internal and external communication plans, ensuring that our initiatives are successfully communicated and understood.
To be successful, you will be a strong project manager, demonstrate exceptional writing and editing skills, and have experience with media relations, application of relevant communications tools and processes, and working with other functions and business partners as part of a geographically dispersed team. In addition, you will serve as the site communications focal for our El Segundo location, responsible for the timely distribution of information to approximately 4,500 employees.
The ideal candidate will possess strong writing, communication, content creation and project management skills, with a proven ability to turn complex technical information into engaging narratives.
Position Responsibilities:
Support the development, periodic review and execution of the Satellites strategic communications plan
Ensure communications efforts align with the goals of Space Missions Systems and contribute to the broader objectives of Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS)
Create and execute a variety of communication tactics, including written and visual content for both internal and external platforms. This includes: photo and video capture, trade show materials, social media content, digital assets, news releases, proactive media pitches, responses to media inquiries, and employee communications
Provide communication support to satellite portfolio leaders, business development partners, and Boeing subsidiaries Spectrolab and Millennium Space Systems
Offer communication support to satellite portfolio commercial and government customers
Lead site communications for Boeing’s El Segundo site
This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
3+ years of Communications experience (including, but not limited to: corporate communications, media relations, public relations, spaneting or advertising)
Excellent video skills (filming and editing)
Excellent writing skills (deliverables such as social media, news releases, statements, messaging documents, feature stories, speeches, etc.)
A background in content development and storytelling
Demonstrable experience in partnering with and providing communications counsel to senior business leaders
Ability to obtain and hold a Top Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Aerospace industry experience
Working in a fast-paced, self-driven collaborative team environment
Success working in a large matrixed organization, or working and collaborating across multiple teams for any given project
Bachelor’s degree or higher

Summary pay range: $86,700-$117,300
