Job Description:

Akima is looking for a Cash Application Analyst to work in Herndon, VA. The Cash Application Analyst is responsible for processing, verifying, recording and maintaining data on payments and adjustments to accounts receivable open invoices or designated general ledger accounts in an efficient and accurate manner from various sources including checks, credit cards, wire transfers and ACHs. Responsibilities

  • Record daily cash receipts, disbursements, and transfers across multiple bank accounts and business units.
  • Collecting and depositing incoming checks through the electronic deposit system
  • Processing credit card payments using customer authorized request
  • Gathering daily banking reports and supporting EDI or wiring instructions
  • Auditing and posting other team member’s edit journals for accuracy in the AR module
  • Initiating correspondence, researching and resolving unidentified deposits
  • Maintaining hard copy and electronic files for the daily bank reports and supporting documents
  • Monitoring and applying credit memos as instructed by the billing team
  • Communicate effectively with finance directors, billing, accounts payable, and project controllers regarding cash activities to resolve issues
  • Support internal and external audits, providing cash-related documentation as required.
  • Balancing and reconciling cash accounts through the Cash Management module
  • Continuously evaluate processes and recommend improvements for greater efficiency and accuracy.
  • Other projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher, with a preferred concentration in business, finance, or accounting, as well as two to three years of experience in an office environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required
  • Previous posting experience preferred
  • Experience with Costpoint 8.2 preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred
  • Experience with IBM Cognos preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint preferred
  • Experience working for an Alaska Native Corporation (ANC) or in a similar federal contracting environment is preferred

In order to perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility efficiently and accurately with strong attention to detail. The Cash Application Specialist must have:

  • Good working knowledge of accounting terminology
  • The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages as well as the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra
  • The ability to learn and adapt to new concepts
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain a heavy redundant volume with tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication
  • Strong organization skills
  • The ability to take initiative and work independently

This Hybrid position requires that you live within commuting distance from Herndon, VA.
